Maoyu Mao is an artist working across installation, drawing, writing, sound, performance, and long-duration projects. Her practice examines how body, time, space, materials, and environment shape inner experience, relationships, and processes of becoming.
Beginning with everyday experience, inner images, and embodied knowledge, she works through observation, action, making, documentation, and spatial construction to explore how experience takes form and becomes an artistic situation that can be perceived and entered. Her work engages with being, belonging, and becoming, while examining the shifting connections between the individual and the external world.
She studied Experimental Art at China Academy of Art and received her MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London. Recent exhibitions include OUR FLESH: WRITING AND VISION (Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou, 2026), Temporary Eternity: The 6th Shenzhen Biennale of Contemporary Art (Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, Shenzhen, 2025), and Perception of Time (LArt Museum, Hangzhou, 2024). She was selected as a finalist for the Arte Laguna Prize in 2026.
毛矛予是一位艺术家，实践涵盖装置、绘画、写作、声音、行为与长期项目。她关注身体、时间、空间、材料与环境如何共同塑造个体的内在经验、关系与生成过程。
她从日常经验、内在图景与身体知识出发，通过观察、行动、制作、记录与空间建构，探索经验如何获得形式，并转化为可被感知和进入的艺术情境。她的作品围绕存在、归属与生成展开，考察个体与外部世界之间持续变化的连接。
她毕业于中国美术学院实验艺术系，并于伦敦大学金史密斯学院获得纯艺术硕士学位。近期展览包括“我们的肉身：书写与视觉”（广州美术学院大学城美术馆，广州，2026）、“临时性永恒——第六届深圳当代艺术双年展”（深圳会展中心，深圳，2025）及“感时”（LArt Museum，杭州，2024）。2026年入围意大利 Arte Laguna Prize。
